Tools explored: Flickr and LinkedIn

This week, I created a Flickr account. Flickr is social networking website that focuses on the sharing of photographs. This is my first experience with the site, and I find it to be very user friendly. It’s also super convenient because you can download it as an app on your smart phone (it works with Android and Apple products).

Just like many other social networking resources, this could be used in a professional or a social way, depending on the user’s preferences. I look forward to using it more and adding it to my list of useful resources.

Also, I revisited my linkedin account. So, this one wasn’t NEW to me, but I am glad I gave it a second change. LinkedIn is also a social networking site, but it is aimed at professionals. It’s a great place to post your resume and to connect with professional contacts. I took the time to update my resume, add my education and volunteer history, add a profile picture (really, I was not using it AT ALL before) and just really make more of a presence on the site. I hope that this type of site will be more useful to me as I’m getting close to completing my degree and looking for a job.
