The article, Six Principle of Effective e-Learning: What Works and Why, but Ruth Clark (https://ucdenver.instructure.com/courses/323407/files/2514149/download?wrap=1) , discusses six key principles central to eLearning. The six identified principles are:
1. Multimedia
2. Contiguity
3. Modality
4. Redundancy
5. Coherence
6. Personalizaton

I think the Coherence Principle is one that I can relate to. I frequently struggle with thinking that my presentations are too simple, and then end up going to the opposite extreme and make it too complex, or overwhelming. I have a hard time finding that balance. I like the quote from the article, "As designers we need to make a distinction between entertainment and learning...our goal should be to promote cognitive interest and avoid emotional interest in situations that require cognitive learning processes." I hope that by keeping this advice in mind, I will be able to strike create material that not only keeps the learners interests, but actually serves its purpose without being distracting.
